Thumper rolled his eyes when Kiara accused him of turning into her mum. “Pffftt, really? I can’t fuss about you? That’s it, I’m bringing back our daily lunches, whether you like it or not.” he winked at her, glad to see her back in her jovial mood. He missed that signature twinkle in her eyes, it made his world spin a lot more smoother.
He forked the salad into his mouth before he continued. “You know, I would like to think I have made myself an accomplished amateur cook, since I’m always so free and easy on weekdays. I have to cook for you when we go on that adventure in the caves sometime.” his head raised, thoughtful about his idea. “Yes, that’s happening, and if it sucks you have no way to rid me of food!” he laughed, so much that he coughed in the end.
He scrunched his face as Kiara poked his forehead and smiled when she smiled. It was a good sign, isn’t it? “Ohohohoo, I’m still only 17, and I don’t get wrinkles until nature decides to give me wrinkles, unfortunately.” he pushed her lightly on her arm and forked another bite in her mouth, just for fun. “Gee, I actually enjoy feeding you, Princess. You know what? It just occured to me that you’re like Mario’s princess, Princess Peach, and I’m, well, not fighting off dragons or mushrooms and what not for you, but… you know!” he grinned.
“Sigh, really? Okay, you got me.” he teasingly put his hands up in surrender when she asked him that question. “I’m just worried about those bad dreams you told me about a few days ago. I’m just worried that you can’t sleep easy, and it worries me that it upsets you and your thoughts. I don’t want my flawless princess to be all groggy, though it’s totally adorable, but it will eat you up inside.” he sighed as he finished that mouthful. “Did that make sense?”
“Pffftt, really? I can’t fuss about you? That’s it, I’m bringing back our daily lunches, whether you like it or not.”
“Now who said I was complaining” Kiara nudged him playfully, “If its a chance to see you I’ll starve till you feed me.” She said forking a bit of her food and placed it in her mouth. She loved the thought of him cooking and was really excited to see the caves he talked about so much. Thumper laughed so hard he choked a little on his salad, kiara immediately started to pat his back a little too hard, but was glad he was ok. “You’re gonna end up dead laughing like that” kiara giggled, “And why would I rid you of things that are super delicious!!”
Kiara leaned closer to him “You gotta teach me how to cook sometime! I mean the only source of food are the things that they serve at the casino and that’s not really filling” she wrinkled her nose, “Its been a while since I’ve had a home cooked meal, unless you count takeout”
“Gee, I actually enjoy feeding you, Princess. You know what? It just occured to me that you’re like Mario’s princess, Princess Peach, and I’m, well, not fighting off dragons or mushrooms and what not for you, but… you know!”
Kiara opened her mouth making the “AAH” sound as she did so before chomping down on his fork. “Well if it get you to share your food I’m glad to be eating it” she smiled teasingly. “And I highly doubt I’m one to always be captured by a big dragon man.” her brow wrinkled in thought. A thought occurred to her that made her gasp. “LINK!” she said a bit loudly, causing some people to jump. Kiara lowered her voice, embarrassed ”You’re Link, and I’m Zelda! That way I have some form of fighting skill despite my clumsiness!”

It did eat Kiara up inside. There are many nights where the dreams wouldn’t be so bad, in fact it would be somewhat peaceful. Those dreams where she would run wild and free across the land! She could stay dreaming those dreams forever. It was those dreams where she transforms into a lioness, her body contorting into an inhuman shape, those still scared her. She remembered Nala saying that was the truth of their past, but it still just weird-ed her out with the thought. Always running, always looking for someone… but whom?
Kiara looked around the diner. Sharing her thoughts in a place like this was a bad idea. If anyone heard about it they’d send her to the nut house! Would Thumper?! No, she wouldn’t think of that. He loved her. Kiara looked dead at him eyes serious. “I’ll tell you, but not here. Its something I want to share with you and only you.” She said holding his hand. She looked down at their joined hands. “Besides, “She said cheerfully again “If i get too scared I guess I’ll just have to sneak in and snuggle with you till I feel better.”
